Walk the Walk USA Party Planning

Walk the Walk is built on relationships. Every WtW supporter has joined our mission because someone they trust recommended it. What started with a few friends has grown to 10,000+ donors from all 50 states. Help us grow stronger by telling your friends and family about Walk the Walk. To make it easy we have Toolkits with step by step guidance and printable tools for events big and small.

Host a Watch Party
Help spread the word by inviting friends to your home to watch the monthly WtW zoom presentation live. Let us know, and we’ll give your group a welcoming shout-out at the event. Watch Party Toolkit

Host a House Party
Hold a House Party that focuses on fun – music, dancing, board games, BBQ, whatever – and include time to share information about Walk the Walk and why it’s important to you. We have videos about WtW and its grassroots partners that you can play. House Party Toolkit

Hold an Event
For larger events, like a concert or an art show, we have tools to help you along the way and volunteers to talk you through it. A WtW co-leader can attend the event in-person or by zoom to share information about WtW. Event Toolkit

For Any Kind of Gathering
Consider joining together with a friend or a few friends as co-hosts to share the work and increase your guest list. (See below Working as a Team)

We can give you a donation QR code and link to share with your attendees, so you can track the success of your fundraising! To do that, register your party or event here.

Working as a Team
For larger events, consider having a co-host or co-hosting team to help. Friends working on a cause together is a great energizer! If you go this route, start your planning by hosting a team meeting to:
-
Share why you each support Walk the Walk.
-
Identify your team’s hopes for this event.
-
Set the date, time location of the event.
-
Determine if your event will have music, sale of donated items, a speaker, etc.
-
Create the event timeline/agenda.
-
Establish roles and responsibilities for the hosting team, such as:
-
Leadership/point person for team communications who will:
-
Send reminder emails to the team
-
Follow up with team members on work commitments
-
Communicate with a Walk the Walk Outreach Volunteer
-
-
Someone to head up the food/beverage planning, purchasing and preparation.
-
Someone to organize the venue set up and clean up (this could be the event host but extra help may be helpful or critical to have)
-
Someone to organize and track donations who will:
-
Prepare and make the “pitch” for funds
-
Set up a tracking link with Walk the Walk to identify how much money is raised
-
Review and bring donation materials and instructions to the event. Note: Make sure you have information on how to make tax deductible gifts through the Tides Foundation.
-
-
Someone to create the invitation/evite (examples are included in toolkit).
-
-
Plan frequency of check-ins with the hosting team and set up meeting dates.
